Inside A GIRL’S GUIDE TO MOVING ON: A Novel by Debbie Macomber, we are witnesses to multifamily destruction paved with wrecked marriages then drop–kicked into the middle of an implosion of emotions coming from all sides!

A mother-in-law and daughter-in-law team up in the most unusual ways to protect a child, right some wrongs, and make new lives. They travel on to leave the destruction behind while the unknown path ahead—thought of as buoyancy to hope—is a chasm of pain, discomfort, injuries, and lessons long before hope runs aground.

Debbie Macomber lays bare the ends of cheating and chilled marriages only to create another family drama in just letting go and moving on.

Will Leanne and Nichole find their strength, learn from their mistakes, and live out their happiness while wading through the old and plodding through the new to regain family, love, and trust in themselves and others?

***This opinion is my own.***

Leanne shares the guilt of her son’s cheating ways not because she taught him the ropes but because she let Jake learn these things from his father.  Without intervening for her and her family, she showed acceptance by tuning it out and staying married, acting happy, and playing the dedicated wife in public.

She’d never once asked herself what she was showing her son.

The guilt didn’t kick her until the day she knew for sure what was about to happen to the woman she loves as a daughter and to her grandchild who would be shaped by her own son.

Meanwhile, Nichole and Jake both knew of his father’s affairs. In fact, most of their country club friends did as well. She wanted to know why Leanne let it be, but Nichole had gained a mother in the end, and it wasn’t her place to guess at why. Losing her own parents early in life had left her with a whole lot of appreciation for her mother-in-law. Leanne became her second mom, and she figured whatever her reasons, they could not or should not be judged.

This conversation was not to be let go on it’s own when Leanne showed up to tell Nichole some devastating news.

However, this wasn’t the version of things she’d been expecting. For it was Leanne who informed her that Jake’s cheating left another woman pregnant. With much love and regret, Nichole was prepared to let her know that she couldn’t be like her mother-in-law, but Leanne didn’t approach it all from that expectation. In fact, she’d showed amazing solidarity in the pain and chose to not stay in her situation either.

Will the resulting family drama destroy them all or can any future beauty rise from the ashes?
